Rescued from the pages of Mira Calligraphiae Monumenta — The Model Book of Calligraphy — these flowers were painted by Flemish artist Joris Hoefnagel in the margins of a calligraphy masterpiece created for the Holy Roman Emperor in 1561. One man wrote the words. The other painted flowers so beautiful they completely stole the show. We kept the flowers. We think they made the right call.
