Chaotic, colourful, and absolutely teeming with life — A Cry For Kelp is the Saltwater Edit at its most gloriously abundant. Seahorses, molluscs, crustaceans, kelp, and coral all gathered together in one magnificent underwater scene that is less minimalist beach aesthetic and more I live in the ocean now. We are completely fine with that.
Rescued from Ocean Life, a submarine scene painted in 1859 by Christian Schussele — a French-born physician and amateur naturalist who apparently decided that practising medicine wasn't quite enough and took up painting the ocean floor in his spare time. He packed every creature he could find onto one canvas, and honestly, we respect that energy enormously.
